The Cabbagetown BIA is hosting its annual Holiday in the Patch event on Saturday, December 7th from 12pm to 4pm. The free-to-attend celebration for all ages will feature holiday music, kids’ games and activities, photos with Santa, festive food and drinks as well as special offers from local businesses for those looking to support and shop local this holiday season.
New this year at the corner of Carlton St and Parliament St, a heated outdoor après-ski lounge will provide a cozy spot for patrons to enjoy the festive atmosphere over a cup of hot apple cider. Those looking to sing carols can pick up the mic to belt it out at holiday karaoke, while others can challenge friends to lawn games.
Another new addition for this season’s celebration, The Cabbagetown BIA has partnered with Treasure Trove Toronto to host an engaging and interactive holiday-themed treasure hunt. Free to play, participants will visit secret locations across the neighbourhood and text in answers to clues for a chance to win up to $1,500 in prizes - with a grand prize of $1,000 cash.
The always popular Santa’s Workshop returns to 237 Carlton Street, where everyone ‘on the nice list’ is invited to stop by to share their wish lists and snap a polaroid pic with Santa himself. Photos with Santa are drop-in style and pet-friendly!
To support local business for the busy holiday shopping season, guests can shop, explore and participate in workshops, events and exclusive holiday specials from Cabbagetown’s diverse range of small and independent businesses. Stout Irish Pub will be giving guests who bring in a food drive donation a free 5oz lager and glass to take home, Joanne Dolan Design will be offering free warm beverages and stocking stuffer giveaways for kids, Gushi will be sampling hot chocolate snacks, soups and more tasty delights, Kendall & Co. will entertain patrons with live music, hot cider and an ornament giveaway for kids, The Beastiary Petshop will engage kids with a count the candy cane contest and meet the animal sessions, The Village Art Studio will be stenciling custom t-shirts, Timeless Collective Toronto will be serving up drinks and treats as well providing 10% off everything in store, Super Bargain will have face painting for kids, and so much more from businesses including FTJCo Fine Jewellery, House on Parliament, La Gloria Mexican Coffee House, The Tasting Gallery, ZERO Cocktail Bar, Green's Antiques, and more.
"Our annual Holiday in the Patch celebration is a cheerful gathering that brings the community together to create happy holiday memories while also uplifting our dynamic main street and all our local businesses," said Matthew Mohan, Executive Director, The Cabbagetown BIA.
