Season 22 of the iconic cooking show, Top Chef, is coming north of the border to Toronto.
The upcoming season of the cooking competition will centre around Canada, and will celebrate Canadian staples like poutine, maple syrup and Hawaiian pizza.
Aside from stopping in Toronto, the show will also make stops in Calgary, Montreal, Prince Edward Island and Canmore, Alta.
Celebrities from the Toronto area will be making some guest appearances this season. Michael Cera, who is from Brampton, is set to swing by the cooking competition. He is best known for his roles in Superbad, Juno, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and more.
Sarah Levy will also show up in season 22. She is from Toronto and is best known for her role of Twyla Sands in the award-winning show, Schitt's Creek.
Fifteen rising star chefs will compete for the largest Top Chef prize ever.
According to Bravo, contestants have the chance to win $250,000 and a $125,000 flight credit with Delta Airlines, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, as well as an appearance at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, a culinary event spanning three days that includes cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and panel discussions.
Perennial judge Gail Simmons, who is a Canadian food writer and cookbook author, also hails from Toronto. Simmons has been a judge since the show first started in 2006.
Mayor Olivia Chow is set to attend the season premiere event at TIFF Lightbox at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
A promotional video on Instagram shows the contestants participating in the CN Tower EdgeWalk, and gong on a trip to Niagara Falls.
